Resonance

Another task at the DPJW STEM Matchmaking event was to build a seismograph. First, five strips of paper had to be cut to lengths of 50, 42, 36, 28 and 20 cm. The width was 2.5 cm. These were then glued together to form rings. These were then glued onto a piece of cardboard, also at intervals of about 2.5 cm. The homework assignment was to find out at what frequency the individual rings vibrated.

Of course, it's not a graph, because it doesn't record anything when a metre passes. You could also try to see if wind creates resonance here. Either because there is wind or because you are walking with the device.

Materials

Cardboard, paper for strips
