Czech-German Youth Exchange Ballooning 2026

NEW: Language animation in sports german-czech

To support sports clubs and associations in planning and organising German-Czech exchanges, the German Sports Youth (dsj) has published new resources on exchange cooperation with the Czech Republic. In addition to a concise information leaflet, a new publication in the “Language animation in sports / Bewegte Sprachaninameion” series of brochures is also available, developed in collaboration with Tandem, the Coordination Centre for German-Czech Youth Exchange.

The collection of methods “Language aninmation in sports” is aimed at German-Czech sporting encounters, such as youth exchanges at club or association level in Germany and the Czech Republic. Sport offers the opportunity to create shared experiences across language barriers and to connect with one another. Common rules, similar styles of play and shared passions facilitate understanding – even regardless of the language spoken. In this way, sport creates ideal conditions for intercultural learning, mutual understanding and European encounters.

Youth camp/youth exchange in Bitterfeld (Germany) 18. July–25 July 2026

The Luftsportjugend des DAeC (DAeC Air Sports Youth) is organising its first German-Czech youth exchange in ballooning in collaboration with Český balónový svaz (Czech Balloon Federation). The target group is young people aged 14-26 who are already active in ballooning, as well as young people who would like to discover ballooning for themselves. Different experiences also promote interaction between the young people. What makes this youth camp, 30 kilometres north of Leipzig, special is that it also offers the opportunity to fly in gas balloons as well as hot-air balloons. Gas balloons are much rarer than hot-air balloons, and there are currently only a handful of fixed launch sites in Germany and none at all in other European countries.

The management team already includes people with a great deal of experience in ballooning who will organise the balloon flights. However, there are still positions available for people who will look after the participants and the programme outside of the balloon flights, especially intercultural activities, language animation, camp life and who identify with the goal of helping the participants develop into a group.

The task of the leadership team is to lead the group, involving the participants in decisions whenever possible, so that there is no ‘us’ and ‘them’.

If you don't have any experience in international exchange yet, this is a great opportunity to gain some. We will also inform you about online and offline training courses, which you can attend if you wish.

We will invite you to several video conferences to get to know each other and develop our cooperation.
